Steward the land and feed your neighbors

We are what we eat. So why not eat healthy? Existing systems of power and inequality make it difficult for many of our communities to access affordable, nutritious food. That’s why we’re reimagining the local food economy and investing in urban farms across Los Angeles. When you join us as a Freedom Farm, you’ll be part of a larger movement that brings environmental stewardship and food sovereignty to our communities.

Once we formalize our partnership, we’ll connect you with the investments needed to be sustainable and scale up as a Freedom Farm.

Step 03

Feed the community

Now, you do what you do best: plant the seeds for liberation and grow food for the people. When your harvest is ready, we’ll schedule times for picking up and dropping off to local restaurants and grocers.

Frequently asked questions

  • A passion for good food, a love for the community, and an interest in being part of something much bigger. Farms must be located within the Greater Los Angeles area, in addition to having food safety certification and an on-site manager who has completed the Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training. Whether your farm is well-established or just got up-and-running, we can help you scale up to be able to fully participate in our program.

  • To make our program accessible to small to mid-size farms of varying capacities, we do not require a commitment to any specific practice. However, all of our current producers practice sustainability in some form, whether that's utilizing hydroponics, drip irrigation, compost, mulch, low to no till, or no spray methods.

  • Our diverse network of Freedom Farms include churches, synagogues, community-based organizations, non-profits, and commercial and recreational urban farmers. See the full list of our local producers here.

  • Our network of Certified Fresh establishments include businesses that provide food to the community, from restaurants to grocery stores. Help us kick off our growing collective of local distributors.
